Research (and scholarly projects)

My current research interests can broadly be construed to lie under Differential Geometry.  That is to say that they tend to use concepts and techniques from this large field.  These interests include Minimal Surfaces, Manifolds with Density, and Optical Engineering (specifically Catadioptric Sensor Design).

I tend to pursue projects and subjects that facilitate undergraduate participation, especially ones that may lead to other, completely new or unrelated areas of mathematics.  Previous and ongoing work has involved many students from a variety of backgrounds, but for the moment I’ll focus on the following areas.

I am also collaborating with friend and academic sibling Evelyn Lamb on a fun calendar project.  We are working with the AMS to publish a page-a-day calendar whose dates feature interesting mathematical “blurbs” or “nuggets.”  I’ll update as more information becomes available.

As usual, if you have any questions or comments be sure to share.
